Learn About Myofascial Release
-
Myofascial release is a safe, and effective hands-on technique that addresses the root causes of pain and immobility. By applying gentle, sustained pressure into the myofascial connective tissues, our skilled therapists work to eliminate pain and restore motion. This method transcends traditional treatments by focusing on the myofascial complex's elastic and muscular components, offering not just temporary relief but lasting change.

Fascial restrictions can arise from a myriad of sources, including physical trauma, emotional stress, repetitive motions, poor posture, surgical procedures, scarring, inflammation, and dehydration. These restrictions cause the fascia to lose its pliability, leading to pain, immobility, and dysfunction. Traditional imaging tests often miss these restrictions, making myofascial release an essential tool in uncovering and treating the underlying causes of discomfort and limitation.

Myofascial Release Therapy Burlington FAQs
-
While traditional massage focuses on relaxing muscles and improving circulation through various techniques, myofascial release specifically targets the fascia—the connective tissue surrounding muscles, bones, and organs. This therapy applies gentle, sustained pressure to release fascial restrictions, aiming to restore optimal movement and relieve pain. Unlike some massage techniques that work superficially, myofascial release works on a deeper level to address the underlying causes of discomfort and immobility.
-
The frequency of myofascial release therapy sessions varies depending on individual conditions and goals. Typically, clients may start with 1-2 sessions per week to initiate the healing process and observe improvements. As your body begins to respond to treatment, the frequency may be adjusted. Our therapists work closely with you to monitor your progress and recommend a personalized treatment schedule that best supports your journey to recovery and wellness.
-
Myofascial release therapy is designed to be gentle and should not cause pain. The technique involves applying light pressure to release tension in the fascia. Some clients may experience mild discomfort or a sensation of stretching in areas of tightness during the session, which typically subsides as the fascia begins to release. Our therapists are skilled in adjusting their techniques to ensure your comfort and the effectiveness of the treatment.
